Conventional boats are launched over the side by gravity davits and there have been numerous instances when the time taken to launch the boats and to get them away from the ship has proved to be an additional hazard.

Fassmer freefall lifeboats provide the quickest and safest possible escape.

As soon as all personnel are in the boat and the aft door secured the

hydraulic release gear is activated and the boats is launched, via the

trackway aft, away from the vessel into clear water, even if the engine is

not running.
